How I Improved as an artist

When I look back on my first photo I think I have improved slightly. Especially with the lighting and placement. If I continue to take photos I think I can get better and take truly good pictures. My first photo was a good example of showing that I had much to learn from this class. From the harsh lighting to the sideways angle, my first picture was not great. I feel that way because I know I could take a better picture, now knowing what I know.

Artists reflection: Black Light

1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why
The best shot of this assignment was picture 1 because it looks better and has better angles and lighting.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment?  Why?
The weakest picture of this assignment was the 2nd picture because the angles were not the best and the subject was centered.

3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
I can implement rule of thirds as well as better lighting.

4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both?  What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used levels and hue and saturation from Photoshop.

5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I was able to show that i was capable of practicing angles with people.

6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
The easy part of this assignment was the pictures, it was fun to take picture of people and see their creativeness with the paint.

7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The difficult part of the assignment was the editing, because it was slightly difficult to find a balance between light and dark.

8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I would take more pictures in a shorter time so I could do the other project.

9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project?  Why would you give yourself that rating?
I rate myself a 7 on this project, because I could've done better.

Artists Reflection:Portraits

      1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why
The best picture of this assignment was either short or split in my opinion. I say this because the colors add a nice contrast to the regular blandness of white light.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment?  Why?
The weakest photo is loop, because the picture is slightly grainy and there is no shadow whatsoever.
3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
I can zoom less and get closer, as well as brightening my camera light.
4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both?  What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used levels and brightness and contrast on Photoshop.
5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I was able to meet the goals of this assignment by showing and learning the different types of lighting with portraits.
6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
The editing was easy, because the pictures only needed levels and maybe a bit of brightness adjustments.
7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The difficult part of this assignment was getting models to sit as well as identifying similar types of lighting.
8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I would probably get closer with my camera to take pictures if I had to do the project again.
9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project?  Why would you give yourself that rating?
On a scale of 1-10 I would probably give myself a 7 or an 8. This is because I feel I could've done better.

Artist's reflection: Color select

       1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why
The best picture of this assignment is the full picture 1 because there are many colors in the picture.2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment?  Why?
I feel my weakest was full picture 2 because it is lacking in the diversity of colors.3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
My weakest shot can be improved by adding more colors and choices of color in the future.4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both?  What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used photoshop with the levels, black and white, sepia, and hue & saturation tools.5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
I was able to meet the goals of this assignment by showing knowledge of how to select certain colors from a black and white picture.6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
Taking pictures was both fun and easy. 7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The editing process of this assignment was more difficult than in the past.8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
I would take more pictures of the colors on peoples faces.9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project?  Why would you give yourself that rating?
I rate myself a 6 because I got pictures that gave sufficient examples for color select, but I could've gotten more.
