Low depth and High depth: Reflection

       1. Which picture is the best shot of this assignment? Why?
The best picture of this shoot is the second high depth because i feel it has the most artistic detail and good editing.

2. Which picture is the weakest shot of this assignment?  Why?
The  second low depth of field picture is my weakest because it is very simplistic and doesn't hold attention for long.
        3. How can the weakest image be improved on in future shoots?
I can improve my weaker shot in projects by adding more detail and capturing something that will hold attention longer.
4. Did you use Photoshop, Lightroom, or both?  What tools in the programs did you use to edit the pictures?
I used Photoshop with the tools, brightness, levels, and color balance.
5. Explain how were you able to meet the objectives (GOALS) of the assignment?
This project was to teach us about low and high depth of field. I was able to meet the goals of this assignment by actively capturing examples of low and high depth of field.
6. What was easy about this assignment? Why?
The easy part of this project was editing because the editing was just playing with the different mechanics of Photoshop until the picture looked good.
7. What was difficult about this assignment? Why?
The difficult part of the assignment was taking pictures, because sometimes my camera would auto focus and not give me the effect I wanted.
8. If you could do this assignment again, what would you do differently?
If I did this assignment again I would get more interesting pictures.  9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being your best effort) how would you rate your effort in this project?  Why would you give yourself that rating?
on a scale of 1-10 I would rate myself with a 6.5 to 7 because I put in effort to get it done quickly, but I could be a little more in depth with my picture taking.

Back Lighting: Reflection

I feel my best shot of the assignment was number 1 because the editing on this one is my favorite and it turned out the greatest in my opinion. My weakest assignment of this assignment was number 3 because not all the detail from the objects in front of the light were blacked out. I can improve this picture by editing the picture different to make sure that it all looks blacked out and more like a silhouette. I used Photoshop with the curves tool as well as the hue/vibrancy tool. I was able to meet the goals of this assignment by understanding the rules of backlighting and experimenting with the editing software in Photoshop. Getting pictures for this assignment was probably the easiest part of the assignment because there were an abundance of props in the classroom, as well as an abundance of models. The most difficult part of the assignment was probably having to experiment with the editing because I was afraid that the picture that I made with good filters might not look good after making a mistake with the order of editing. If I could do the assignment again I would spend more time being creative with poses for pictures. I rate myself a 5 out of 10 for this assignment because I usually try to get my pictures fast so I can edit because as much as I like taking pictures, I like editing more.

Artist reflection: Texture

I feel my best picture is probably My picture of the tree bark Because there is a really noticeable texture. I feel my weakest photo out of this shoot was the railing texture because it wasn't as strong of a texture as the other ones. My weakest image could be improved in future shoots by getting closer to the object and actually capturing the texture of the railing. I used Photoshop and with The vibrancy, black and white, and contrast. I think i passed all the goals of this assignment. The easy part of the assignment was getting the pictures, because we were given many chances to get them, in class and out. The most difficult part of this assignment was probably also getting the different types of textures. If I were to do this project again I would get better pictures by getting closer to the objects to capture the texture better. I would give myself a 8 on a scale of 1-10 for this project. I would give myself this rating because I put in effort to get my pictures and edit my pictures.

Texture

Smooth/ Shiny- the railing had a smooth and shiny look and the lighting.

Rough- The tree bark is rough and the lighting brings that out.

Spiky- The lighting brings out the shadows and light of the tree leaves.

Artist discovery: Ansel Adams

1) Ansel Adams has a mastery of shooting landscapes.

2) He gets texture from either getting closer to the object, or uses the  lighting.

3) My opinion on his work is that it looks really good. it looks like it would be someone's nature computer background on a computer, or phone.

4) My reasoning behind this is because nature pictures are oddly calming to me.
